Lukas Gold *1968
From an early age, Lukas Gold has been fascinated by photography as a medium for documentation and discovery. In his photography, documentation resembles a diary narrative. The focus of his work is portraiture: of a person, a location or a region. There is a continuous search for "identity", or for what "identity" could mean for us or for the other.
Lukas Gold gives importance to detail – and in his wide images the inclusion of fine detail – in an attempt to comprehend greater perspectives for the observer. His work might be seen as a personal response to a world overwhelmed by images, often taken out of context by a media world where perceptions of "truth" and "reality" may be less important than the impact of headline consumerism.
Lukas Gold is currently working in the Gaza Strip.
